Camping Sandaya Domaine du Verdon Castellane

Gorgeous location and cabins; perfect place only let down by some rude and unhelpful staff

The site is gorgeous; premium cabins laid out in the best way of any Sandaya we've ever visited. Each had a spectacular view and it was very cleverly designed and laid out. I liked the sleepy mountain atmosphere, the many table tennis tables (take your own bats) and outdoor gym equipment by the lake. The pool was an inspired design with a "river" running around it and pools of various depths (crazy busy at times but then that's true of everywhere). The minus points were the rudeness and lack of customer service (some staff), the filthy cabin on arrival (I had to clean it myself as staff refused to rectify it right in front of my face). The restaurant was good (beautifully scenic and very tempting, good prices) but the food was very poor and it was understaffed. I would have eaten there again. Bar often had a queue of 10 people. The little shop was sufficient for emergencies but not to cater your holiday (local Casino in Castellane). The Spanish girl on reception, and the English chap were amazing (great customer service) but we were all clearly frustrated by the poor standards of other team members. D de Verdon has all the potential to be the best holiday location in France; tranquil, well equipped, great facilities but but it could raise its standards. I would not hesitate to visit again but I'd lower my expectations on arrival. If you are going for location, mountains and tranquillity, you will find no better place, its truly, truly special. But be prepared - take a chopping board and your own kitchen knife, a tea towel (none in cabin and none arrived even though we asked). Unlike other Sandaya's if you find something missing or that needs replacing, housekeeping are very unlikely to help you. On the other hand, our dishwasher broke and two lovely maintenance chaps came in a golf cart and replaced it within the hour. Random customer service. But I would go back any day (armed with cleaning products) and love it as much as we did this time around.

Campingplatz am Fluss ist nicht wirklich am Fluss, da braucht man schon ein Fernglas. Lohnt sich nicht. Waschhäuser waren modern aber leider nicht sauber. A great family holiday location

My wife and I spent 2 fantastic weeks at this camp-site. I would highly recommend it as a great place for a family holiday. In addition, it's proximity to stunning coastal walks and beautiful villages nearby made this a very enjoyable stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the shop sold the most beautiful pastries and baguettes in the world! :)

The route we were taken to our pitch was not possible with the size of our vehicle. On leaving the site, our caravan was damaged on a pillar.
