Lifeguards and staff were excellent. Accommodation was in great condition with thoughtful extras lik
This is indeed 5 star camping. We had a chalet which was better than other competitor sites we have stayed on. Nice to have little extras like heated towel rails (so could quickly get everything dry on rainy days) the hygiene covers for the pillows and mattresses and a good sized fridge/ freezer. The campsite shop was well stocked and not unreasonably priced (the closed supermarket is about a 15 minute drive). The pool facilities were excellent, with very good vigilant lifeguards (stopped people who weren't respecting the safety rules) which was appreciated. Always managed to get a lounger or two. The beach and lake is wonderful, a real asset, as once the pool was closed our kids could just carry on swimming about. It's very shallow and clean. Lots of fun extras like a Volleyball court, Aqua Park (good value compared to ones we've been to in the UK) and pedalos etc. We bought wetsuits anticipating it would be cold, but never needed them, even on cooler days. Our kids really enjoyed hiring the go karts to race around the site (plenty of space, doesn't disturb anyone) and they liked the mini skate park, the large playground area and football area. Shame we had to pay to book a court for tennis but that's not untypical, and I guess ensures you can actually play as you're not sharing the space. Staff were helpful and friendly and spoke English perfectly. Just a note, the region is quite remote, it was an hour to Orleans, or 40 mins to Verizon (we went 10 pin bowling on a rainy day to a lovely place there), and Chambord is just over an hour (well worth a visit even with kids). The local villages are not 'picturesque' as such, just actual villages (shop/ pharmacy etc) so you need to travel a bit further for your Instagram shots :) Brilliant stay, we will definitely be back again.
